Biamp Tesira Firmware 5.7.1: What London Tesira Owners Should Check

Biamp Tesira firmware 5.7.1 is out: Biamp announced the firmware only update on its website in September 2026 and says it improves responsiveness when Biamp Workplace is used on Tesira devices and delivers critical fixes for Voltera D and D M amplifiers, Tesira and TesiraLUX products. For London offices, venues and campuses running TesiraFORTÉ, TesiraFORTÉ X or Tesira server systems, it is a maintenance release worth planning into the diary rather than ignoring.

  • Biamp announced Tesira 5.7.1 in a latest news item in September 2026, promising improved responsiveness and critical fixes.
  • Tesira 5.7.1 is listed by Biamp as a firmware only release; the current Tesira Software and Biamp Canvas versions remain 5.7.0, from June 2026.
  • Biamp's release notes give the release date as August 2026, while its downloads page lists Tesira Firmware v5.7.1 as September 2026.
  • The fixes cover Voltera D and D M amplifiers, TesiraLUX video streaming, Dante and AVB media clock switching, IGMP related unresponsiveness, failed updates from 4.x, and an SSH security vulnerability.
  • Biamp warns in its update procedure that all audio stops during a Tesira firmware update.

What is new in Biamp Tesira firmware 5.7.1

The short version comes from Biamp itself. In a Biamp latest news item on the Tesira 5.7.1 update, signed by The Biamp Team, the company says the new firmware improves overall responsiveness when using Biamp Workplace on Tesira devices, and delivers critical fixes to Voltera D and D M amplifiers, Tesira and TesiraLUX products. Biamp points readers to the release notes for the detail.

A firmware only release. Biamp's Tesira release notes on its Cornerstone knowledge base label this version as firmware only. There is no new Tesira Software or Biamp Canvas build alongside it: Biamp's downloads page still lists Tesira Software v5.7.0 and Biamp Canvas v5.7.0, both dated June 2026, next to Tesira Firmware v5.7.1. The downloads page also lists a separate TesiraFORTÉ X firmware web version of 5.7.1, which Biamp says is only valid when updating TesiraFORTÉ X firmware through the web interface.

The date question. The release notes give the release date as August 2026, while the downloads page and Biamp's announcement are both from September 2026. At the time of writing, Biamp does not publish an exact day for either.

The Tesira 5.7.1 fixes, one by one

According to the Tesira release notes, the update contains one general improvement and seven resolved firmware issues.

Change listed by Biamp Most relevant to
Improved overall responsiveness when using Biamp Workplace on Tesira devices Estates managing rooms through Biamp Workplace
TesiraLUX video streaming failing after 11 hours on the 10G port Venues and lecture spaces distributing video over TesiraLUX
Media Clock Master not setting correctly when switching between Dante and AVB Mixed Dante and AVB networks
Rare false fault claiming the audio clock was not synchronised, when changing the media clock master from Dante to AVB Mixed Dante and AVB networks
Voltera D and D M amplifiers that could report an unable to communicate with amplifier card fault Installed sound with Voltera amplification
A device becoming unresponsive after a while with IGMP enabled Any networked Tesira system using IGMP
Firmware updates from 4.x to 5.7 and newer failing Older systems still on 4.x firmware
An SSH related CVE, resolved by updating to OpenSSH 10.4p1 Every Tesira estate with a security policy

One known issue. The release notes also record that the Enable IGMP Querier network setting for TesiraFORTÉ X and TesiraCONNECT is disabled whatever Tesira Software shows. Biamp adds that joining an IGMP multicast group continues to work as expected. If your network team relies on a Tesira device acting as the querier, that is worth raising before you update.

Who in London should update, and how soon

Security led estates. A corporate head office in the City or a university campus with an IT security team will probably want the OpenSSH fix on the strength of the CVE alone. Tesira processors sit on the corporate network, and an outstanding SSH vulnerability tends to show up in penetration tests and audits.

Venues and campuses on Dante and AVB. The two media clock fixes matter most where a building mixes Dante and AVB, which can be the case in larger venues, lecture theatres and multi floor offices that have grown over time. If you have seen clock faults when switching between the two, the release notes list two fixes in this area.

Systems stuck on 4.x. Biamp lists a fix for updates from 4.x to 5.7 and newer failing.

If none of these apply and the system is stable, there is less urgency, but the security fix still makes 5.7.1 a sensible target for your next planned maintenance visit.

Testing before rollout

Biamp's normal Tesira firmware update procedure on Cornerstone sets out the steps, and it is worth reading before anyone touches a live system. In summary, Biamp says to:

  • Update Tesira Software and Biamp Canvas to the latest version first.
  • Connect to the running system and save a backup copy of the configuration file, plus any Biamp Canvas file.
  • Check the Tesira firmware update path calculator; Biamp says units already on firmware 4.x or newer can disregard it, as it exists for the older two step 3.11 procedure.
  • Apply the .tfa2 file from Device Maintenance in Tesira Software, selecting the devices to update.
  • Avoid updating over WiFi or a remote internet connection. In Biamp's words, "Updating firmware over a WiFi connection or via a remote internet connection is not recommended."

Plan for downtime. Biamp says typical firmware updates take 5 to 15 minutes, that all audio stops during the update, and that TesiraCONNECT TC-5 and TC-5D units update first, then server class devices, then expanders such as EX-IN, EX-OUT, Parlé microphones and amplifiers, which can take up to a further 15 minutes. Expanders not configured as part of a system will not update automatically. For a London office that means booking an early morning or evening window, telling facilities and reception, and not scheduling it before a board meeting or town hall.

Test one room first. Where an estate has several identical TesiraFORTÉ rooms, updating one, running a real call and checking microphones, Dante or AVB routing and any control system, before rolling out to the rest, keeps any surprise contained.

Where maintenance contracts fit

Firmware like Tesira 5.7.1 is exactly the kind of work that slips when nobody owns it. A maintenance and support agreement should state who watches for manufacturer releases, who tests them, and who signs off the change.

Questions we are often asked

Is Tesira 5.7.1 a software update or a firmware update?

It is firmware only. Biamp's release notes describe it as a firmware only release, and the current Tesira Software and Biamp Canvas versions on Biamp's downloads page remain 5.7.0.

Will updating my TesiraFORTÉ to 5.7.1 stop the audio?

Yes. Biamp's update procedure says all audio stops during a firmware update, typically for 5 to 15 minutes, and expanders can take up to another 15 minutes to update and resume passing audio.

Can I update a Tesira system from 4.x straight to 5.7.1?

Biamp says units on firmware 4.x or newer can disregard its update path calculator, and the 5.7.1 release notes list a fix for updates from 4.x to 5.7 and newer failing. Older systems on 3.x or earlier should follow the calculator's steps.

Does Tesira 5.7.1 fix any security issues?

Yes. According to the release notes, it resolves an SSH related CVE by updating to OpenSSH 10.4p1.

Are there any known problems with Tesira 5.7.1?

Yes, one. Biamp lists that the Enable IGMP Querier setting on TesiraFORTÉ X and TesiraCONNECT is disabled regardless of what Tesira Software shows, although joining an IGMP multicast group still works.
