Microsoft gives 3 September 2026 as the end of certification for Teams Rooms Android devices, panels and phones that run Android 10 or 11, and 3 September 2027 as the end of Microsoft support for them. For a London office, that makes this a sensible moment to find out which rooms still run the older Android versions, so firmware updates or replacements can be planned calmly.
What was announced
AV Interactive (avinteractive.com) reported the story on 1 September 2026 under the headline "Teams users urged to audit rooms for Android 10 and 11". The dates themselves come from Microsoft's lifecycle document, Android versioning support for Teams devices. It covers Teams phones, Teams Rooms on Android (touch consoles included) and Teams panels, the booking screens fixed outside a room.
Microsoft publishes two dates for every Android version. This is how the document lists them for Android 10 to 15:
| Android version on the device | Microsoft Teams certification ends | Microsoft support ends |
|---|---|---|
| Android 10 | 3 September 2026 | 3 September 2027 |
| Android 11 | 3 September 2026 | 3 September 2027 |
| Android 12 | 15 August 2028 | 15 August 2030 |
| Android 13 | 15 August 2028 | 15 August 2030 |
| Android 14 | 4 October 2029 | 4 October 2031 |
| Android 15 | 15 October 2030 | 15 October 2032 |
A note above the table explains that the Android 10 and 11 certification date was pushed back by a year, from 3 September 2025 to 3 September 2026, to give organisations longer to manage firmware and application updates. The support date did not move.
End of certification and end of support in plain words
The two dates are easy to confuse, so it helps to use Microsoft's own explanation. On its list of certified Teams Rooms on Android devices, Microsoft says certification end dates are based on the Android version a device was running when it entered the certification programme.
End of certification is therefore about the Android version, not the age of the box on the wall. Microsoft says makers extend the life of a certification by moving the device to a newer Android version and having it recertified. It says some products may be upgraded and recertified, and that others might not be and will eventually be discontinued by the maker.
End of support is the later date. Microsoft says that once a certification has expired it is committed to supporting the latest version of the Teams device applications on those devices for two years, while keeping the right to change that policy. For Android 10 and 11 the published support date is 3 September 2027. Microsoft's pages do not say a room stops working on that day, and we would not promise that it carries on unchanged either.
The Teams app has its own rule. Microsoft says it tests and supports the latest version and the one before it, and recommends automatic updates. Its warning is blunt: "Keeping devices on older versions of the application can leave your Teams devices unstable and unusable."
Which Teams Rooms Android devices are affected
When we checked Microsoft's certified lists, the large majority of room bars, touch consoles, panels and phones from Neat, Yealink, Poly, Logitech, Jabra and Crestron were shown on Android 12 or later, most of them with a certification end date of 15 August 2028.
A small number of entries still carried the 3 September 2026 date with the words "re-certification is pending":
- Logitech Rally Bar Huddle (VR0034), listed on Android 11.
- The Neat Bar Pro + Shure Complete Room Bundle, listed on Android 10. The Neat Bar Pro by itself is listed on Android 13 with the 2028 date.
- Poly TC8 and Poly TC10 as HP Direct Connect virtual touch consoles (no Android version is shown for these two entries).
- Logitech Dock Flex (VR0035) on the Teams panels list, shown on Android 10.
The certified phones list showed no models on Android 10 or 11. These lists change as makers submit new firmware, so treat the names above as a snapshot. Remember too that the list shows the firmware Microsoft has certified, which is not necessarily the firmware installed in your room.
How to audit the rooms in a London office
- List every device. Microsoft says the Teams admin centre shows phones, Teams Rooms on Android and panels under Teams devices, with the name, manufacturer, model, status and last seen time for each. Microsoft also says device management is moving to the Teams Rooms Pro Management portal.
- Record the firmware. Selecting a device and choosing Update shows the software and firmware updates available for it, according to Microsoft.
- Find the Android version. Compare the model and firmware with Microsoft's certified list, which gives the Android version for each certified firmware. If that is unclear, look in the device's own settings or ask whoever installed it.
- Sort the results. Mark each device as Android 10 or 11, Android 12 or 13, or Android 14 and above, and note its room.
- Check the update policy. Confirm whether app and firmware updates are set to automatic or manual, and who is responsible if manual.
Do not forget the touch console on the table and the booking panel by the door: each is a separate Android device.
What to do with a device on Android 10 or 11
Update first. If the maker has released firmware based on a newer Android version, moving to it is the cheapest fix. Microsoft says Android and firmware updates are supplied by the manufacturer to Microsoft for certification and then distributed through the Teams admin centre or the Pro Management portal.
Ask the maker. Where no newer Android release exists, Microsoft is clear that the decision not to recertify, and any end of sale or end of life date, belongs to the manufacturer, and it encourages customers to ask the manufacturer about a specific product.
Plan the replacement. If the device is staying on Android 10 or 11, set a replacement date ahead of 3 September 2027. Our maintenance and support and video conferencing pages describe how we can help.
Budgeting and timing for London offices
An audit produces a short list with dates against it, which is far easier to budget for. Rooms on Android 12 or 13 have until 2028 for certification and 2030 for support on Microsoft's figures, so they can sit in a later budget year. Rooms on Android 10 or 11 with no upgrade path belong in the next one.
In a multi floor London office it can make sense to line replacements up with work already planned, such as a floor refurbishment. When choosing new equipment, check its Android version on Microsoft's list before buying: the newer the version, the later the dates in the table above. Schools and colleges can follow the same steps (see our education page).

Questions we are often asked
Will a room on Android 10 or 11 stop working after 3 September 2026?
Microsoft does not say that. The date marks the end of certification for those Android versions, and Microsoft lists support for them until 3 September 2027.
How do we find out which Android version a room device runs?
Start with the model shown in the Teams admin centre or the Teams Rooms Pro Management portal and the firmware version from the device, then compare them with Microsoft's certified device list, which shows the Android version for each certified firmware.
Does this affect Teams Rooms on Windows?
No. The dates in this article come from Microsoft's Android lifecycle document, which covers Teams Rooms on Android, Teams panels and Teams phones. That document does not mention Teams Rooms on Windows.
Can a firmware update move a device from Android 11 to Android 13?
Only if the maker has built and released one for that model. Microsoft says some products may receive an operating system upgrade and be recertified, while others might not.
