Crestron Configure Pro is the platform Crestron installers now use to set up and change Crestron Home systems, released on 30 June 2026 alongside Crestron Home OS 4.11. Crestron says it lets dealers deliver projects faster and more consistently, and for a London homeowner the practical points are quicker setup, simpler changes later, and a processor requirement worth checking before you plan an upgrade.
What is Crestron Configure Pro?
Every Crestron Home system has two sides. The side you see is the app, the touch screens, the keypads and the remotes. The side you do not see is the configuration behind them: which rooms exist, which lights and blinds belong to each room, what every keypad button does, and how sound and picture are routed. Configure Pro is the tool an installer uses for that second side.
Crestron announced the official release on 30 June 2026, describing it as a professional configuration platform for residential dealers. It takes over from the older Crestron Home Setup app, runs on a Windows or Mac laptop, and in Crestron's words is now "the primary configuration tool for every Crestron Home OS project, everywhere in the world". The features Crestron highlights are:
- Standard workflows that need no custom programming, so a system is built by configuring it, not by writing code.
- Clear input and output labelling for audio and video routing.
- Visual keypad configuration, showing each button's action, engraving and behaviour.
- A visual Sequence Editor that builds a chain of steps, with delays and conditional logic, without code.
- Several engineers working on the same project at the same time.
Configure Pro was first shown at CEDIA Expo in 2025, and Crestron says hundreds of dealers used it on real systems during almost a year of beta testing. In September 2026 it was one of the Best New Software winners at the CEDIA Smart Home Awards Americas 2026, as the trade publication CE Pro reported on 8 September.
Who it is for, and who it is not for
Configure Pro is a trade tool. Crestron's own page describes it as "purpose-built for smart home dealers", and the release makes it available to Crestron Home dealers. The same goes for the AI assisted mode Crestron previewed at CEDIA Expo 2026: CE Pro reports Crestron being explicit that it is for dealers and integrators, not end users.
So it does not turn Crestron into a do it yourself system. Designing the system, choosing the equipment and commissioning it properly is still professional work. What Crestron Configure Pro means for a London home
You will never open Configure Pro yourself, but it shapes how a project runs and how the house is looked after. The time savings in this table are Crestron's claims, not our own measurements.

Two London situations show why this matters. In a renovation, the smart home is commissioned in the final weeks, when decorators, joiners and the moving date all compete for the same days, so anything that shortens setup takes pressure off the programme. In an apartment, where access often has to be booked through a concierge or managing agent, the gain is in the visits you do not need.
That second point is about remote work. The guest post says that on a Crestron Home system, swapping a television, adding a room or adjusting a lighting scene can often be done remotely within minutes, where a custom programmed system could need its code changed, compiled, tested and loaded again. CE Pro also reports that Crestron is doing away with the VPN tunnel dealers have traditionally needed, though it gives no date. We offer remote support through 1Install Care.
What you need to get it
Configure Pro is not something a homeowner buys: it is the installer's tool. What matters is whether your system meets the requirements in Crestron's manual:
- A supported processor: CP4-R (Version 2), MC4-R (Version 2) or DIN-AP4-R.
- Crestron Home firmware 4.11 or later. Version 4.12 came out on 22 September 2026.
- The Configure Pro software, on the installer's Windows 11 or Apple silicon Mac computer.
In practice that puts most owners in one of three positions:
- Crestron Home on one of those processors. A firmware update makes the system ready for Configure Pro, and being up to date also opens up newer features such as Multiview in Crestron Home 4.12.
- Crestron Home on older hardware. Crestron stopped adding features to Version 1 CP4-R and MC4-R processors at version 4.07, and the PC4-R is missing from the list above. That leaves these systems outside Configure Pro, on the older setup tools. For the newer features, the processor is the part that has to change.
- An older Crestron system that was custom programmed. Configure Pro cannot be used on it, because it is a Crestron Home tool only. We upgrade older Crestron systems to Crestron Home, keeping as much of the existing hardware and wiring as possible.

What comes next: AI assisted setup
CE Pro reports that Crestron previewed an AI assisted mode inside Configure Pro at CEDIA Expo 2026, arriving in early 2027. An integrator will be able to build out a project in natural language, including by uploading an Excel file of project details to fill in the rooms and placeholders for the technology. It is aimed at dealers: according to CE Pro, natural language programming for homeowners is being explored, but Crestron's near term priority is to protect integrators from the liability of customers reprogramming systems badly. Treat early 2027 as expected, not promised.
Crestron also says Configure Pro will be updated on a rolling basis, with remote access named as a priority. Version 4.12 has already added light and dark themes to the tool.

Questions we are often asked
Can I use Crestron Configure Pro myself?
No. It is a professional tool that Crestron supplies to its Crestron Home dealers. You still run the house day to day from the Crestron Home app, touch screens and keypads, and Crestron has said it wants homeowners to be able to create their own lighting scenes and scheduled events.
Do I have to pay for Configure Pro?
It is not sold to homeowners. It is the tool your installer uses, and what you pay for is the engineer's time to set up, update or change your system.
Will my existing Crestron Home system work with it?
It depends on the processor. Crestron lists the CP4-R (Version 2), MC4-R (Version 2) and DIN-AP4-R, running firmware 4.11 or later. Version 1 processors and the PC4-R are not on that list, so they stay on the previous setup tools.
Can changes to my system be made without a visit?
Often, yes. Many changes to scenes and settings can be made remotely, and we offer remote support through 1Install Care. Some work still needs an engineer on site, such as fitting new hardware or anything that has to be tested in the room.
