Most of a boardroom AV installation is invisible on the day of the first meeting: the people in the room see two screens and a camera, not the rack that drives them. This boardroom, photographed in February 2023, shows both halves of the job.
On the wall
The end wall has a deep blue acoustic finish, with a pair of large screens mounted next to each other and a camera standing on the low cabinet beneath them. Both screens had the Microsoft Teams logo up as the photo was taken. The table front is oak veneer, its top has round fittings, and dark pendants hang from a slatted ceiling.
In the rack
At the top sits SurgeX power protection, an SX1213-RTI, which looks after the mains supply for everything below it. Under that is a Crestron AMP-2210T, a two channel amplifier that Crestron no longer makes. Further down come a brush strip that lets cables through the front, a compact box with network and screw terminal connectors, and a Dell mini PC with a shelf to itself.
The back is the proof
Round the back, pink leads are looped and strapped, red conductors are clamped into green terminal blocks, and every run is held by a tie. An engineer who opens a rack like this can follow each cable without guessing, which turns a long fault find into a short one.
Planning a boardroom AV installation in London
Find the rack a home before anything else: it needs air, it needs to be easy to reach, and it needs a cable route to the wall. Then choose the screens and the camera together, so the people at the far end of a call see the whole table, and settle how the room will be controlled. Crestron's page for the AMP-2210T lists the amplifier's details.
Our conference room, audio conferencing and Crestron pages go further, and our flat panel displays page covers screens of every size.
