One large display, up to six live feeds. Crestron's DM NVX Multiview combines up to six video sources on a single screen in 18 layouts, with labels, borders and smooth transitions, over a standard gigabit network. For London offices, venues, colleges and control rooms, it replaces a separate multiviewer with a feature built into the AV over IP system.
We have already covered Multiview in Crestron Home for London homes. This post looks at the commercial side, where Crestron introduced DM NVX Multiview in July 2025 for rooms that need several feeds in front of people at once.
How DM NVX Multiview works
In a DM NVX system, every source (a laptop input, a camera, a media player, a TV receiver) connects to an encoder, every screen has a decoder, and the video runs over the building's network. With Multiview, the decoder behind a screen can build one picture from up to six of those sources, so there is no extra processor in the rack.
- Six sources, 18 layouts: from a single picture in picture to a six way split, recalled as presets.
- DM-NVX-384 at the screen: the decoder that builds the layout, and it also drives 5K displays.
- No added latency, according to Crestron, which matters for presenters, cameras and live sport.
- One layout, many screens: Crestron says the combined picture can be decoded by any DM NVX 4K receiver, so it can be shown elsewhere in the building too.
Built for professional rooms
Beyond splitting the screen, DM NVX Multiview gives each layout a finished look:
- Labels: text over each picture in the colours you choose, such as "Panel", "Remote guest" or "Pitch camera".
- Borders: a coloured outline around a picture to show which feed is live or which one is being heard.
- Background and transparency: set the background colour and how transparent it is, so layouts match your brand.
- Transitions: fades, zooms and wipes when the layout changes.
Audio is routed independently. It can follow the selected picture or the highlighted border, and DM NVX carries multichannel audio, including 5.1 surround, over the same gigabit network.
Rooms where it pays off
Crestron lists courtrooms, sports bars, command and control centres and large lecture halls with panel discussions among the settings it was designed for. Across London, the rooms we see it suiting are:
- Conference and event spaces: slides, a camera on each speaker and a remote contributor on one wall, each labelled.
- Bars, clubs and hotels: several fixtures on one screen with names on each, and the commentary from the one the room is watching.
- Operations and security rooms: camera feeds, dashboards and news laid out the way the team works.
- Lecture theatres and training rooms: the lecturer's content, a document camera and a remote guest together.
- Receptions and client areas: brand content beside a live news or market feed.
What it needs
A standard 1 gigabit network is enough, and Crestron says existing DM NVX installations can add Multiview without new switches or network equipment. Each screen that shows a layout needs a DM-NVX-384, and each source needs a DM NVX encoder. Layouts are normally recalled from the room's Crestron touch panel, so staff pick "Presentation" or "Match day" and the system does the rest.
The network does need to be designed for AV: managed switches configured for video, enough capacity between floors, and cabling that is labelled and documented. We plan that with your IT team from the start.
Multiview or the display's own split screen?
Many commercial displays have a picture in picture or split screen mode, but it is usually limited to two inputs plugged into that screen, with no labels and nothing shared with other rooms. DM NVX Multiview works with any source on the network, wherever it is in the building, shows up to six at once, adds labels, borders and transitions, and can send the finished layout to other screens. It is also controlled from the same Crestron touch panel as the rest of the room, so there is one simple way to run everything.
That makes it a good fit where rooms are shared or change use during the day: a conference suite that hosts a panel in the morning and a product launch in the afternoon, or a bar that shows three fixtures on a Saturday and a single match on a weeknight.

Questions we are often asked
Does DM NVX Multiview work with an existing DM NVX system?
In most cases. Crestron says existing DM NVX systems can use Multiview without new switches or network equipment. Each screen showing a layout needs a DM-NVX-384, and we check the encoders and firmware during the survey.
How many feeds can one screen show?
Up to six, in any of 18 preset layouts.
Will there be a delay on cameras?
Crestron says Multiview adds no latency, so it works for live cameras, presenters and sport.
Can one layout go to several screens?
Yes. According to Crestron, any DM NVX 4K receiver can decode the combined picture, so the same layout can appear on screens around the building.
Can each picture be labelled?
Yes. Every picture can carry a text label in your colours, and a coloured border can mark the live feed or the one you are hearing.
Do we need a new network?
Usually not. Multiview runs on a standard 1 gigabit network, provided the switches are set up for AV, which we arrange with your IT team.
