Cisco Google Meet support is now native: on 7 October 2026, at WebexOne in Austin, Texas, Cisco announced that its collaboration devices support fully featured Google Meet through a new partnership with Google, alongside Webex, Microsoft Teams and Zoom. Cisco also introduced RoomOS 27, its device operating system, which it says is available in November, and a new IP connected ceiling loudspeaker called Cisco Ceiling Speaker Pro.

  • Cisco announced native, fully featured Google Meet support on Cisco collaboration devices on 7 October 2026, at its WebexOne 2026 event in Austin, Texas.
  • Google Meet joins Webex, Microsoft Teams and Zoom as a meeting platform that Cisco devices can run, according to Cisco's press release.
  • RoomOS 27 is the new operating system for Cisco collaboration devices, and Cisco says it is available in November.
  • Cisco Ceiling Speaker Pro is a new IP connected ceiling speaker that Cisco says runs over a single Ethernet cable and works with Cisco cameras, microphones and room devices.
  • At the time of writing, Cisco's release does not list which device models get Google Meet, and gives no availability date or specification sheet for Ceiling Speaker Pro.

What Cisco announced on 7 October 2026

The news came out of WebexOne 2026, Cisco's annual collaboration event, and was published in full on the Cisco Newsroom. Three items in it matter to anyone running meeting rooms.

Native Google Meet. Cisco's release puts it plainly: "Cisco devices now offer support for fully featured Google Meet natively." Cisco credits a new partnership with Google. In practice, that means a Cisco room device running Meet itself, rather than relying on a workaround such as a laptop. UC Today, reporting from the event on 7 October 2026, described Google Meet as the last of the four major meeting platforms to arrive on Cisco hardware.

RoomOS 27. This is the next version of the software that runs Cisco room and desk devices. Cisco says its AI Assistant can now engage in 32 languages, plus new management features in Cisco Cloud Control, including Workspace Advisor, Smart Room Assurance and Divisible Rooms. Cisco gives November as its release month.

Cisco Ceiling Speaker Pro. According to Cisco, this IP connected ceiling speaker uses AI to adapt audio across the room, connects to central management over the network and replaces multi vendor audio setups with a single Ethernet cable. In a companion post on the Webex blog, Cisco's Snorre Kjesbu describes it as completing an important part of Cisco's audio over IP architecture, working with Cisco video devices, cameras and ceiling microphones, with built in processing and automatic configuration.

AV Interactive, the website of AV Magazine, also reported the launch on 8 October 2026 under the headline "Cisco goes native with Google Meet and adds ceiling audio".

What is confirmed and what is not yet

Here is where things stand at the time of writing, based only on what Cisco and the trade press have published.

Question What the sources say
Is Google Meet native or interop? Native, according to Cisco, and fully featured.
Which Cisco models? Not listed. Cisco refers only to "Cisco devices" and "Collaboration Devices".
When does RoomOS 27 arrive? Cisco says November.
Does Meet need RoomOS 27? Not stated in Cisco's release. UC Today reports that the new support arrives as part of RoomOS 27.
Ceiling Speaker Pro availability No date given.
Ceiling Speaker Pro specification Only IP connection, single Ethernet cable, AI audio adaptation and integration with Cisco devices. No dimensions, power class or coverage figures yet.
Pricing Not published in the release.

We would not order hardware for a Google Meet room on the strength of a press release alone. Wait for Cisco's device compatibility list and release notes for RoomOS 27, then plan.

Who the Cisco Google Meet change affects in London

Google Workspace offices with Cisco kit already on the wall. Some firms have Cisco room bars or boards from a Webex or Teams era and have since moved email and calendars to Google Workspace. Until now, those rooms may have joined Meet calls through a laptop on HDMI or another workaround. If your current Cisco devices turn out to be on the supported list, native Meet could remove that friction without replacing hardware.

Mixed platform buildings. A shared floor in Shoreditch or a serviced office near King's Cross may host tenants on Teams, Zoom and Meet. UC Today describes the idea as one Cisco fleet that can boot into whichever service a given room relies on.

Boardrooms and larger spaces. Cisco says Ceiling Speaker Pro offers adaptive voice lift, so people sitting across a long conference table hear each other naturally. That points to larger spaces, such as a long boardroom table in the City or a training suite in Canary Wharf.

IT teams on Teams Rooms. If you are standardised on Microsoft Teams Rooms, nothing here forces a change. Our Teams Rooms on Android audit post covers checking an existing estate before any platform change.

What to plan before November

List your Cisco devices. Note model, serial and current RoomOS version for every room. Then match it against Cisco's supported models when published.

Decide room by room. Plan which service each room should open in by default. Cisco has not yet explained how a single room moves between platforms.

Check accounts and licensing with Google. Your Workspace administrator should confirm with Google what is needed to enrol and manage third party room hardware, at the time of writing, before any rooms are converted.

Test before rolling out. Pilot one room through a normal working week: calendar invitations, content sharing, external guests and any room booking panels. Our earlier post on Google Meet hardware moving to Android is useful background on how Google is changing its own room platform.

Plan the network for ceiling audio. An audio over IP speaker on a single Ethernet cable is tidy, but it still needs a switch port, the right power and a network design that keeps audio traffic healthy. Speak to whoever runs your switches early.

How this fits a London office building

Many London meeting room projects are fit outs inside existing buildings, with busy ceiling voids and landlord rules about fixings. A ceiling speaker on one network cable can mean fewer cable runs back to a rack. Exposed ceilings in converted warehouses around Shoreditch and Hammersmith need more thought about mounting and appearance than a grid ceiling does.

1Install designs, supplies and installs meeting rooms, Teams Rooms and video conferencing systems. We would assess Cisco's new options alongside other brands once full specifications are published. If you are weighing up platforms, our video conferencing and audio conferencing pages explain how we look at a room, and Teams Room installation in London covers Microsoft rooms specifically. Questions we are often asked

Can Cisco Room Bar or Board devices run Google Meet?

Cisco says its collaboration devices now support fully featured Google Meet natively, but at the time of writing its release does not list the specific models, so check Cisco's compatibility list before buying.

Is Cisco Google Meet support native or just interop?

Native. Cisco describes it as fully featured Meet running natively on the device, rather than a room joining Meet through a workaround such as a laptop.

When is RoomOS 27 released?

November, according to Cisco. Treat that as a plan at the time of writing, as dates can move.

What is Cisco Ceiling Speaker Pro?

It is Cisco's new IP connected ceiling speaker, which Cisco says runs over a single Ethernet cable, uses AI to adapt audio across the room and works with Cisco cameras, microphones and room devices.

Do I need to replace my Cisco hardware to use Google Meet?

Not necessarily. If your devices are on Cisco's supported list, a software update may be enough, but Cisco has not published that list yet, so an audit of current models is the sensible first step.
