Biamp BMA 360D in Black: A Ceiling Microphone for Dark Ceilings in London Offices

Biamp says its BMA 360D ceiling tile microphone is now available in black and ready for immediate shipment, in an announcement made in November 2026. For London offices with dark or exposed ceilings, the black Biamp BMA 360D means a 12 beam ceiling microphone no longer has to be a white square in a black ceiling, although the 600 mm BMA 360D-I in black is still to be announced.

  • Biamp announced in November 2026 that the black BMA 360D, its 24 in. x 24 in. ceiling tile microphone, is available to order now.
  • The microphone supports up to 12 beams in preset or custom patterns, and Biamp lists conferencing spaces, training rooms, voice lift and camera tracking among its uses.
  • Biamp's data sheet gives 121 microphone elements, coverage of up to 58 square metres and a three year warranty.
  • Audio leaves the tile over Dante, so it can work with any Dante enabled DSP, Biamp says, not only its own Tesira processors.
  • Biamp says a future update will announce the black version of the BMA 360D-I, the 600 mm x 600 mm model.

What Biamp announced in November 2026

The news is short. Biamp's latest announcement says the BMA 360D ceiling tile microphone, which Biamp's product site also lists in white, can be ordered in black and ships straight away. In Biamp's words: "The black BMA 360D is available to order now." The black model has its own listing on Biamp's product site, item 920-00030-10000, and at the time of writing its specifications there match the white model's listing line for line.

Biamp also points to TAA compliance, which it says suits government, education and other projects where Trade Agreements Act compliance is required. If your procurement team works to a supplier list with rules of that kind, it is worth asking whether the requirement applies to you.

The announcement closes with a note that Biamp will provide a future update on the black version of the BMA 360D-I, the 600 mm x 600 mm model. That last point matters more in London than it might first appear, and we come back to it below.

Who the black finish matters to in London

Offices with dark ceilings. Some London fit outs paint the soffit and services black, or use dark acoustic tiles, so that the ceiling disappears. A white microphone tile in that ceiling reads as a patch. A black tile from the factory removes that compromise.

Design led workplaces. Agencies, studios and client facing floors in places like Clerkenwell, Shoreditch and the West End may have an interior designer setting the ceiling palette before the AV is chosen. A black option gives the AV design something to offer back rather than asking for an exception.

Training rooms and teaching spaces. Biamp names training rooms and voice lift directly. In a long training room, a presenter's voice can be picked up by the ceiling microphone and reinforced through loudspeakers, which the tile's own amplifiers can drive. Schools, colleges and corporate academies with dark ceilings in their larger rooms are part of the same picture; see our education AV page.

Rooms with camera tracking. Biamp's data sheet says the microphone reports beam activity over TCP for camera tracking. That lets a control system or camera know which part of the room is speaking.

Grid size first, colour second

Before anyone falls for the black finish, check the ceiling. The BMA 360D is made for a 24 inch grid. Suspended ceilings in London offices are usually built on a 600 mm module, and Biamp also makes the BMA 360D-I for 600 mm grids. The announcement says availability of the black BMA 360D-I will follow in a future update, so at the time of writing a black tile for a 600 mm grid is something to confirm with Biamp's channel before it goes on a drawing.

There are other ways in. Biamp lists the BMA 360D as ready for VESA mounting on a 100 mm pattern, for suspension from four cable points, and for surface or recess mounting with the separate BMA 360D-SM and BMA 360D-RM kits. For an open soffit or a plasterboard ceiling, one of those may suit better than a grid tile in any case. Biamp's product site lists the mounting kits in black as well as white at the time of writing.

Then plan the rest of the system. The tile needs a PoE+ port as a microphone, or PoE++ if it will power loudspeakers, a Dante network, and a DSP that can take its beams. We set out the earlier Biamp bundles that pair the BMA 360D with Devio and Tesira in our post on Biamp Devio UCX, the Parlé bars and the SCR-10.

How a black BMA 360D fits a London meeting room

Biamp gives coverage of up to 58 square metres for a single tile, so in many medium rooms one tile over the table may be enough. Larger boardrooms and training rooms may need more than one, and the coverage pattern should be modelled before the ceiling is set out, not after the tiles arrive.

The audio then goes either as individual beams into a DSP, or as Biamp's smart switched mix with echo cancellation, noise reduction and level control already applied. Which you choose depends on the processor and on whether the room needs voice lift or camera tracking. For a Teams Room, the microphone's Microsoft Teams certification helps, but the whole room still has to be designed as a system: see our Teams Room installation in London page and our notes on audio conferencing.

Questions we are often asked

Is the Biamp BMA 360D available in black?

Yes. Biamp announced in November 2026 that the black BMA 360D is available for immediate shipment and can be ordered now.

Will a Biamp BMA 360D fit a 600 mm ceiling grid?

No, not the standard model. The BMA 360D is sized for a 24 inch grid, and Biamp makes the BMA 360D-I for 600 mm grids. Biamp says the black BMA 360D-I will be announced in a future update.

Does the black BMA 360D work differently from the white one?

No. At the time of writing, Biamp's product listings for the black and white models give the same specifications: up to 12 beams, Dante audio and the same mounting options.

Can the Biamp BMA 360D be used for voice lift?

Yes. Biamp lists voice lift among its uses, and the tile has built in amplifiers of 4 x 15 W or 2 x 30 W for loudspeakers, which need PoE++ power.

Is the Biamp BMA 360D certified for Microsoft Teams?

Yes. Biamp announced Microsoft Teams certification for the BMA 360D in June 2026, and Zoom Rooms certification in the same month.
