London rooms are rarely blank boxes. Listed walls, shared floors and ceilings that cannot be touched all shape what is possible, so our designs start from the building and its rules, and the screen and sound are fitted around them.
Speakers you cannot see
In a cinema we built in Finchampstead, Berkshire, the walls are wrapped in acoustic fabric with Sonance speakers set behind it, each one lined up with a laser before the fabric went on. From the seats the speakers are out of sight, and the room looks finished rather than technical.

Much of our London work is in period townhouses, mansion flats and listed buildings, where walls and ceilings have to be protected, and in new build penthouses and basement conversions. Cable routes are planned before anything is opened up, equipment racks are kept out of sight, and we work with your architect, interior designer or building manager throughout. Projects around Kensington, Chelsea and Islington are run by the same team from survey to support.
Media room or dedicated cinema?
In a flat or a family living room, a media room keeps the space usable all day: a large TV, speakers built into the walls or ceiling and blinds that close for an afternoon film. In a house with a spare room or a basement, a dedicated cinema with a projector, acoustic fabric walls and rows of seats takes it further. Either can be tied into music throughout the house and lighting control.
Questions we are often asked
Can you install a cinema in a basement?
Yes. Basements suit cinemas well because they are dark and naturally quieter, but they need good ventilation and a plan for the cables before the walls are finished.
Will the neighbours hear it?
We design to keep the sound in the room: a stud wall or acoustic lining, attention to the ceiling and doors, and a subwoofer placed and set up so the bass does not carry through the structure. In a flat we agree the approach with the building manager first.
