Home cinema installation in Berkshire by the team that designed and built our Finchampstead cinema, from a media room with a big screen to a dedicated room rebuilt from its shell.
We start with the room rather than the equipment list. Where the seats sit, how far they are from the screen, how the sound is kept in and how the lighting behaves decide whether a room feels like a cinema, so those come first and the projector, screen and speakers are chosen to suit.
A Berkshire cinema we built: Finchampstead
In Finchampstead the owners wanted sound and picture that could stand beside a commercial screen. We took the room back to its shell, built a stud wall to hold the sound in, lowered the ceiling and laid a timber staged floor so two rows of recliners both see the whole picture.
Behind the acoustic fabric walls are Sonance speakers, the old window is now a lit shelf unit, and Crestron runs the room. See the Finchampstead cinema in full, from the bare room to the finished screen.
Home cinema work around Berkshire
A lot of our Berkshire work is in new builds and extensions, where the cables for a cinema can go in while the walls are open. In established homes around Ascot, Sunningdale and Windsor we plan media rooms that leave the finished rooms around them undisturbed. One team handles the survey, the installation and the support afterwards, and most support is done remotely.
What a Berkshire cinema room can include
- Projection onto a large screen, with acoustic fabric walls and tiered seating
- A media room built around a big TV, with the speakers out of sight
- Surround sound designed for the room, including Dolby Atmos
- Lighting that dims as the film starts, from our lighting control team
- Control with Crestron or Control4, as part of home automation in Berkshire
Questions we are often asked
How long does a cinema room take to build?
That depends on how much building work the room needs. In Finchampstead the design took about a month, the building work and soundproofing two months, the AV and fabric walls a month and the finishing two weeks. A media room in a room that is already finished takes far less.
Do you do the building work as well?
Yes. In Finchampstead our team built the stud wall, the lower ceiling and the staged floor as well as installing the technology. We are just as happy to work alongside your own builder or architect.
Which parts of Berkshire do you cover?
All of it, including Ascot, Windsor, Sunningdale, Bracknell, Wokingham and the villages around them.
