Stage 4 of the 1Install journey

A proposal you can explore, shape and approve, room by room.

Most technology quotations arrive as a PDF full of part numbers. A 1Install proposal is a living, secure web page built around your property. Every room, every system and every option is laid out clearly, and as you add a touchscreen, change a speaker or remove a set of blinds, the investment updates in front of you.

It is the same platform our own design team works in, which means the proposal you approve is exactly the specification we engineer, order and install.

First impressions

Presented like the property deserves

Each proposal opens with the property itself: the home's photography, the proposal reference, who it has been prepared for and when it expires. A fixed bar at the foot of the screen always shows the current total, a button to print or save a PDF, a notes button and the option to accept and sign.

A clear contents panel lists every system in the proposal, with optional systems clearly labelled, so clients, architects and project managers can go straight to the part that matters to them.

Structure

Every system in one navigable document

MacUidir House runs to twenty one sections: control system, window treatments, video distribution, whole home audio, UniFi networking, remote controls, touchscreens, racking, alarm, cabling, occupancy sensors, lighting, keypads, home cinema, documents and plans, service and maintenance, speakers, heating and cooling, materials, contingency and a full investment summary.

Each one opens with a plain English explanation of what the system does and why we have specified it, followed by the equipment, room by room.

Personal from the first page

A welcome letter, not a sales pitch

We open every proposal with a personal letter that explains our thinking: why infrastructure decisions need to be made before first fix, which systems can be phased, and how we will coordinate with the architect, interior designer and electrical contractor as the project develops.

Directly beneath it, Your system at a glance counts what is included: blinds, curtains, occupancy sensors, video sources, touchscreens, keypads and heating zones. The counters update as options are added or removed.

At a glance

The whole house, summarised in one line

Twelve blinds, seven occupancy sensors, six curtains, five video sources, two touchscreens, a keypad and a heating zone. For a client who does not want to read every page, the summary tells the story in seconds. For a quantity surveyor or developer, it is a quick check that the scope matches the drawings.

For architects, interior designers and developers

Design decisions made in the proposal, not in a chain of emails

On a high end project the technology scope changes many times between concept and first fix. Our interactive proposals let the whole design team see those changes, test them against the budget and agree them in one place.

KEYPADS

How many, where, and in which finish

Add or remove Crestron Horizon keypads room by room, choose the button layout, finish and backlight, and design the engraving on screen.

TOUCHSCREENS

Wall, tabletop or wireless

Decide which rooms justify a touchscreen, from a discreet 5 inch wall panel to the 10 inch wireless TST 1080 on its table dock.

LIGHTING

Circuits and scenes

Lighting control is specified around the circuits in each room, with centralised dimming, scenes and occupancy control tuned to how the space is used.

SHADING

Blinds and curtains per window

Tick the rooms that need motorised blinds or curtains and set the quantity for each. The shading budget updates instantly.

AUDIO

Speaker locations and quality

Choose the rooms that receive music, then pick a good, better or best loudspeaker for each one depending on how the space will be used.

VIDEO

Zones and sources

Select which rooms receive distributed video and which sources feed them: Apple TV, Sky, IPTV and CCTV, all routed from the central rack.

Price, quality and performance become a conversation the client can have with the proposal itself, at their own pace, with their designer beside them.
Optional systems

Add a whole system with one click

Systems we recommend but that are not yet committed are marked Optional. Until they are added they appear softened, so it is always obvious what is and is not in the budget. One click on Add brings the system into the proposal and the total at the foot of the page updates straight away.

At MacUidir House, adding window treatments moves the total from €84,386.66 to €123,494.85, with the system's own value of €31,795.28 shown in its header. Nothing is hidden and nothing needs to be requoted.

Shading

Choose blinds and curtains room by room

Every opening is listed against its room. Tick the rooms that should have a Crestron blind or curtain motor and adjust the quantity with the plus and minus controls. Net totals are shown for blinds and curtains separately, so the design team can see exactly what each decision costs.

  • Crestron QMT quiet drive motors for blinds and curtain tracks
  • Budgeted on realistic window sizes and mid range fabrics
  • Refined into a full shading schedule once windows are surveyed

Video distribution

Pick your sources and the rooms they reach

With Crestron DM NVX, video sources live in the rack and can be watched in any room. The proposal lets you choose the sources, such as two Apple TVs, Sky Q with two Sky minis, two IPTV services and the CCTV feed, and the rooms that will receive them.

Touchscreens

A screen for every space

We explain each touchscreen format in the proposal itself: the 7 and 10 inch tabletop screens, 5, 7 and 10 inch wall screens and the premium 10 inch wireless screen. Clients can see what each looks like before choosing where they belong, and then include or remove a screen in each room.

Occupancy sensing

Automation you can see in the specification

Occupancy sensors are listed room by room, from the cinema to the entrance hall, kitchen and study. Each can be kept or removed, and the proposal explains how the sensor can trigger a full lighting scene rather than simply switching a light.

Keypad designer

Design your keypads before they are made

Keypads are the part of a smart home people touch every day, so we let clients and designers configure them inside the proposal.

Scenes explained in plain English

Before any hardware, the keypad section explains what a single button can do: an Evening button that dims several circuits, closes the blinds and prepares the room, or a Goodnight button that puts the whole house to bed. Example functions such as Welcome, Evening, Entertain, Music, Blinds and Room Off help the client think about how they will live in each room.

Finish, layout and backlight

Any line marked Adjustable opens a configurator. For a Crestron Horizon 2 keypad the client chooses from Crestron's own button configurations, then selects a white, almond or black finish and a backlight colour, from cool white to amber or blue. The preview updates as they choose.

Engraving, designed on screen

Click a button on the keypad picture and type its label, choose single text, two lines or a large icon, and align it left or centre. Here a five button keypad has been engraved Welcome, Evening, Dinner, Relax and All Off. The design can be saved as a picture and shared with the interior designer for approval.

  • Up to nine characters per line, as Crestron engraves them
  • Icons and two line labels where needed
  • Revert to our recommended default at any time

Price, quality and performance

Good, better and best, in every room

Not every room needs the same level of performance. Our proposals present tiered choices so budgets are spent where they make the most difference.

Choose the right loudspeaker for each room

For each room with music, the client picks one option. At MacUidir House the principal bedroom offers:

  • Good: four Crestron Reference IC6 6.5 inch in ceiling speakers, ideal for bedrooms, dressing rooms and circulation
  • Better: two Reference IC8 8 inch speakers with fuller, deeper sound for principal living spaces
  • Best: Reference IC8 paired with Crestron's acoustic back can for the most controlled, refined performance

The room total changes as the selection changes, and the rest of the proposal stays exactly as it was.

Every choice explained, not just priced

Alongside the options we explain why the Crestron Reference range was chosen, what the limited lifetime speaker warranty means, and our own recommendation for which rooms should receive which tier. Clients make informed decisions rather than simply choosing the cheapest line.

Dedicated spaces, properly described

Larger elements such as the home cinema are presented as a complete room design: 11.4.4 Dolby Atmos, 4K projection, four subwoofers and one touch cinema control, with seating, acoustics, lighting and interior detailing considered together.

A live investment summary

The final section breaks the proposal down by system, excluding VAT, with a bar for each one so the relative cost of the cinema, shading, audio or network is obvious at a glance. Subtotal, VAT and total follow, with any annual services such as 1Install Care shown separately so ongoing costs are never confused with the project.

Notes and questions

Highlight any line and ask us about it

Clients and their designers can select any text in the proposal to highlight it, leave themselves a note to come back to, or ask our team a question about a specific line. Questions arrive with our design team in the Client Portal, and our replies appear alongside the proposal, so every decision has a clear record.

  • Private notes to revisit later
  • Questions tied to the exact line they refer to
  • Answers from 1Install shown in the same panel

Approval

Accept and sign when you are ready

When the specification is right, the client accepts and signs online. The accepted proposal becomes the project record in our systems: equipment is ordered from the agreed specification, the deposit invoice is issued and the project appears in the client's portal with its progress. Changes later in the project are handled as clearly priced change orders in the same format.

Why it matters

Better decisions, earlier, for everyone on the project

For homeowners

Understand what you are buying, in plain English, and tailor it to the way you live without waiting days for a revised quote.

For interior designers

Choose keypad finishes, backlights and engraving, and check touchscreen formats, alongside the rest of your scheme.

For architects

See every device against its room, so first fix positions, containment and plant space can be coordinated early.

For developers

Compare good, better and best specifications across a scheme and hold the technology budget to the decisions that add value.

The 1Install difference

High end, done the way it should be: with the client in control

Most technology companies hand you a quote and ask you to trust them. We hand you the controls. From the first design to the last button, you and your design team shape the project with us, in real time, with no hard sell.

Power in your hands

You design it with us, not after us

Your interactive proposal is a live design tool. It counts everything in your project as you go: devices, TV sources, TV end points, music zones, keypads, touchscreens, blinds and sensors. Add a room of music or remove a screen and the counts and costs update instantly.

Keypads are designed in the proposal itself. You, your interior designer or your lighting designer decide which buttons go where, what each one is called, the finish and the backlight colour. As far as we know, no other company puts this level of control into the client's hands.

  • Live counts of devices, TV sources, TV end points and music zones
  • Keypad layouts, button names, finishes, colours and locations designed on screen
  • Rooms with TV and rooms with music chosen by you
  • Good, better and best options in every room

QS & PM

Live costings, always

On large residential projects the quantity surveyor and project manager have a live view of the technology costs at every stage, with no waiting for revised quotes.

DESIGN TEAM

A version without prices

Builders, architects and designers get a version with no pricing, so they can adjust keypads, button names, colours and locations, and which rooms have TV or music, without seeing the budget.

DRAWINGS

Full drawings and cable schedules

We provide full drawings and cable schedules for your electrician and design team, so first fix is right first time.

ON SITE

Project visits during the build

We visit site throughout the build to check progress, meet the trades and keep everything to the design.

For consultants, project managers and designers

One point of contact for all the technology

Consultants, project managers and designers tell us we save them a great deal of time. The client has one person managing all of the technology from concept to completion, and the whole team learns about the project together, in one place. It makes everyone's life easier.

At handover, and for years after

A home you already know how to use

Because you have been part of the design from the start, by the time your system is installed and fully programmed you already know what the house does and which buttons to press. Handover and training are quicker and far less daunting.

It also means fewer changes once the project is finished. And when your needs change, the same platform lets you make changes as your home grows.

We add value long before the installation starts: in how we consult and design, not just how we install and look after your system. We believe that is the full package.

Questions

Interactive proposals, explained

Do I need an account to view my proposal?

No. Each proposal has its own secure private link. Once a project goes ahead, you receive a Client Portal account where the accepted proposal, project and documents are kept together.

Can my architect or interior designer see it too?

Yes. You can share the proposal with your design team so everyone reviews the same live specification, and questions can be raised against individual lines.

What happens when I change an option?

The section total, the system at a glance counters and the overall investment update immediately. Nothing is committed until you accept and sign.

Is the price final?

At concept stage some elements, such as shading, are budgeted on typical window sizes and fabrics. We refine these once surveys and selections are complete, and any change is shown clearly as a revision or change order.

Can I still have a PDF?

Of course. The print button produces a full PDF of the proposal exactly as you have configured it.
